Leadership
HUSA Senate
The Howard University Student Association (HUSA) is the main student government organization overseeing and executing programming, initiatives, and legislation for the student body. HUSA provides the following: wide representation of all schools and colleges, unites the voices of students and addresses their concerns, a mechanism to build external partnerships to solve community issues and create special projects, speaks to the needs of all students and majors, effectively branches into collaboration with campus organizations and other institutions, and ultimately determines the University’s future direction to vastly improve the college experience.
HUSA is includes the Student Body, Policy Board, Executive Branch, Senate, Undergraduate Student Assembly, Graduate Student Assembly.
SOC Royal Court
The Royal Court initiates and promotes campus leadership through platform initiatives, with an integration of community service and campus life. The Miss School of Communications and Mr. School of Communications of the Court represents the best of character, school pride, campus ambassadorship and the embodiment of the four pillars of Howard University: Leadership, excellence, truth and service. Miss SOC 2023-2024, Shaniya Shatteen, ran on the platform, “Beauty in the Bison.” Mr. SOC 2023-2024, Michael White, ran on the platform “Enterprise.”
SOC UGSA Representatives
The Undergraduate Student Assembly serves as the premiere programming body on Howard University's campus. Started in 1973, UGSA has built a reputation of planning fun and creative events for students on campus which offers them multiple opportunities to meet new people and make new friends. Some of the most popular events are the monthly First Friday celebrations, Springfest, Student Choice Awards, and Bison Ball.
